Fire Prevention and Management in Biomass and Bulk Materials Storage

The 4th 'Silo Fires' Conference is designed to build on past events with the aim to promote awareness of the issues of fires in silos and flat stores etc, using a series of case studies to help learn from past mistakes. These will include common causes and how these can be controlled along with strategies for safety via design and operation practices.

This conference will highlight an issue that is quite common but not very well exposed or covered. Unlike explosions, it is not regulated by DSEAR so does not get the same attention, but fires in storage of bulk solids are probably more common than explosions.

A series of presentations will look at real-life case studies, then move through current practice and scientific knowledge before finishing with the aftermath of fires in storage and how to deal with them. Breakout sessions will allow delegates the chance to discuss the presentations and put forward ideas on how to progress into the future.
